BLOCK 13: Hydrocarbons

Hydrocarbons

Introduction:  Organic chemistry is defined as the study of carbon and the types of compounds it forms.

The simplest compounds formed by carbon is when it reacts with hydrogen and forms a class of compounds called hydrocarbons.

Starting with methane (natural gas) hydrocarbons are used for fuels, lubricants and possibly thousands of uses.
