BLOCK 17: Modern Chemistry

Modern Advances in Chemistry

Introduction:  Once Max Planck developed quantum theory and postulated the nature of quantum level reactions, the world began to change. Most scientists, including Einstein, found it difficult to comprehend a quantum world, but it soon became obvious that nature wasn't as simple as we thought or hoped.

As the focus on the atom went deeper into the structure of the atom, things became smaller and more bizarre. Even though the quantum theory became VERY difficult to understand, the practical usefulness of applying quantum theory to computers and other devices continued to grow.

You are to watch each of the following videos, taking notes if you need. After watching all the videos, write a paper discussing you agreement or disagreement with the concepts addressed in the videos. Don't simply list your opinions but give supporting evidence for each of your opinions.

Quantum Theory made easy.

Now it's time to write your reaction to watching this stuff THAT IS REALLY HAPPENING!
