Introduction: This Block of Study involves the completion of two labs and successful completion of two pre-lab videos.
The Lab Report: For most labs you are required to write a formal lab report. In preparing for the first lab, watch the following video which covers the system used in writing a formal lab report.
LAB #1: Identification of a metal

In this lab you will identify two different metals by calculating their density, specific heat and reaction with hydrochloric acid.

LAB #2: Rate of Reaction
Attend EITHER Feb. 14 OR Feb. 15
Reaction rates vary from almost instantaneous to those taking hundreds of years. This lab will explore some of the factors which affect the rate of a given reaction.
Watch the following video reviewing the factors that affect the rate of a chemical reaction prior to lab.
